About
The Ark is a music magazine all about local knowledge.
Our focus is divided place by place, so that editors and contributors from regions across the country can use their local knowledge to decide which gig reviews, album reviews, interviews and features are most worth including for their specific area.
By doing this, we think The Ark will be able to cast light on artists and movements that otherwise wouldn't even feature on a centrally edited magazine's radar, and in doing so help to redress some of the glaring inequalities of focus in today's music press.
There will be no attempts to adhere to the corporate minded idiom of supplying 'what readers want' by placing cynical overemphasis on the big bands or the hip, 'relevant' genres of the minute. This will be simple, grassroots journalism, sourced locally across the country, giving exposure to the artists that deserve it, but haven't had the chance to receive it.
